ReTV Home: a free home screen for Android TV
A home screen app for TV boxes and TVs. Your apps in a dock, folders, recent launches and the TV inputs, without recommendation rows.
Two modes
Box mode
For a TV box. A dock with your favourite apps, recent launches, and all apps in a grid.
TV mode
For a TV. The same home screen plus a row with the TV inputs: HDMI and live TV.
What it does today
All apps and folders
Every installed app in one grid. Hold OK on an app to put it in the dock, move it to a folder or hide it. A folder can be renamed or ungrouped, and its apps stay.
Control centre and TV inputs
The control centre has volume, sound, picture, inputs, HDMI-CEC, a sleep timer and a button that turns the screen off. In TV mode the inputs are also a row on the home screen.
Wallpaper, screensaver and remote buttons
Choose a wallpaper: three built-in ones or one of 16 colours. A screensaver with a clock starts after the time you set. Remote buttons can be reassigned, and the layout can be saved to a backup and restored.
What to know
- On Google TV the Home button opens ReTV Home through an accessibility service that you turn on. The stock screen may flash for a fraction of a second. On some TVs an app update or a force stop turns the service off, and you turn it on again in the accessibility settings.
- Measured on a Mi TV Stick 4K: about 40 MB of memory and no more than 5% of janky frames. The APK is about 2.8 MB. We have not measured other devices yet.
